Capitol Briefing: Taxes, Infrastructure, Energy and Emissions: The Road to Financial and Environmental Stability in California’s Freight System

EVENT OVERVIEW: California has prioritized the development of sustainable freight operations to improve efficiency and transition to zero-emissions technologies. This shift will have broad implications ranging from how infrastructure is financed to the tradeoffs between greenhouse gas emissions, air quality, and energy use. UC researchers discussed broad implications of California prioritizing the development of sustainable freight operations, using results from ongoing studies that address questions of both financial and environmental sustainability in California’s freight system. Presentations were followed by a discussion with special guest Fran Inman, Chair of the California Transportation Commission.
