Webinar: How Connected Vehicles and Smart Intersections Can Improve Safety and Traffic Flow

DATE: December 12, 2023

TIME: 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM PST

LOCATION: Online

EVENT OVERVIEW: Vehicle connectivity offers great potential for improving safety, traffic flow, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The greatest benefits lie in creating an ecosystem of connectivity where vehicles are able to exchange information and data with other vehicles on the roadway as well as with roadside infrastructure. Achieving this level of connectivity will likely require making strategic investments in our infrastructure, such as creating “smart” intersections that can share and receive data with vehicles, and developing new systems and methods for integrating data from various sources (e.g., cameras, LiDAR, global navigation satellite systems). This webinar will feature new research from the Resilient and Innovative Mobility Initiative (RIMI) on the evolving opportunities that connected vehicles and smart infrastructure offer in terms of advancing a safer, more efficient, and environmentally sustainable transportation system.
